Tunisia is a country in North Africa located on the Mediterranean coast and bordering the Sahara Desert. The National Bardo Museum in Tunis, the capital, displays archaeological pieces ranging from Roman mosaics to Islamic art. The Medina quarter, with its lively souk, surrounds the imposing Zitouna Mosque. To the east, on the site of the ancient city of Carthage, are the Antonine Baths and other ruins, as well as the National Museum of Carthage with its many artifacts.
