Political Tour in Cotonou: Democrats at the Heart of the 13 Districts
The Democrats Party completed, on this Sunday, June 29, 2025, a massive political tour that took them to all 13 districts of Cotonou. Scheduled over two successive weekends – June 21-22 and June 28-29 – this grassroots campaign, long demanded by the people, lived up to all its promises.
SUMMARY
Accompanied by deputies of the parliamentary group, party leaders made their presence known in each district without any distinction of constituency. This cross-sectional mobilization has helped to strengthen the closeness between elected officials and their constituents in an atmosphere of listening, dialogue, and honesty.
Open discussion on sensitive issues
Far from a courtesy tour, this operation has been an opportunity to directly address the current issues stirring up national political life. Among the widely debated topics are: the Amnesty Bill proposition; the Government’s questioning by the parliamentary group; the constitutional revision and The Democrats’ firm stance; the country’s social and economic situation.
The elected representatives provided straightforward, sometimes technical, but always accessible explanations about the party’s positions and commitments.
From the 1st to the 13th district, the people responded positively, opening their doors and their hearts. In each locality, the same demands emerged: more transparency, more social justice, and a return to a real democratic debate.
This tour also helped to rebuild a bond of trust eroded by the absence of local political dialogue in recent years.
On the road to the general elections
More than a simple field exercise, this tour has been, for the Democrats Party, a real demonstration of political strength. The people of Cotonou have expressed their firm support and have promised unwavering support for the upcoming electoral battles.
“The victory must be total in 2026”, several citizens chanted in unison.
