Porto-Novo: the municipality sets an ultimatum for the liberation of public spaces
Following the example of several other cities in Benin, the municipality of Porto-Novo is stepping up its efforts to ensure that the occupation of public spaces is respected.
SUMMARY
Through an official press release, the municipal administration is reminding the population of current regulations governing urban development and the occupation of public roads.
An appeal to citizens’ responsibility
Mayor Charlemagne Yankoty stresses the need for residents to respect public areas, in particular house frontages and roadsides, which must never be occupied in an anarchic manner.
The message is also addressed to owners of construction sites, who are urged to comply with established standards to avoid any hindrance to traffic and the living environment of local residents.
The aim of this initiative is to clean up the urban environment and ensure better organization of the city, in the interests of safety and harmonious urban planning.
