Benin mourns the passing of one of its former representatives in the National Assembly. Dah Dèlidji Parfait Houangni, former deputy of the 6ᵉ and 7ᵉ legislatures, passed away this Wednesday, March 19, 2025 at the Centre national hospitalier universitaire Hubert Koutoukou Maga (CNHU-HKM) in Cotonou.

His death, following an illness, leaves a great void in Benin’s political class and in his home constituency of Djidja, in the Zou department.

Dah Dèlidji Parfait Houangni distinguished himself in the National Assembly under the banner of the Union fait la Nation (UN), a party in which he was an active campaigner. Representing the 23ᵉ electoral constituency, he left his mark on parliamentary life through his commitment to legislative debates and his advocacy for the development of his region.

Throughout his term of office, he was involved in projects aimed at improving the living conditions of his fellow citizens, particularly in the areas of infrastructure, education and access to basic social services.

A native of Djidja, Dah Dèlidji Parfait Houangni has always been close to the people, regularly taking part in local initiatives and community exchanges. His political action was based on proximity and listening, which earned him recognition from the citizens of his constituency.

The death of the former Member of Parliament is deeply saddening, both for those close to him and for his former parliamentary colleagues. His commitment, rigor and willingness to serve will live on in our collective memory. His death represents a loss not only for his political family, but also for all those who collaborated with him over the years.
