The security offensive launched by units of the Godomey police station stood out for the scale of its results. In the space of two weeks, 82 people were arrested during targeted operations against crime in all its forms. Among them, 32 individuals were arrested as part of the dismantling of hotbeds of delinquency commonly called “ghettos”.

Investigations also led to the arrest of 28 people charged with theft, while other suspects will face various charges. One particularly sensitive case concerns the arrest of an individual suspected of murder. According to initial findings, he allegedly lured a friend from a neighboring country under the pretext of business talks before killing him. The investigation is ongoing to shed full light on this crime.

Beyond the arrests, improving the living environment was at the heart of the operation. Seven ghettos identified as criminal hideouts were simply destroyed to deprive delinquents of their rear bases.

Drugs, theft and road safety in the crosshairs

The fight against drug addiction also recorded notable results. Law enforcement seized 305 packets of Indian hemp, several blister packs of psychotropic tablets and other illicit substances. In addition, 5 kg of counterfeit medicines were removed from circulation to protect public health.

On the road safety and anti-theft front, 25 motorcycles were impounded for missing parts. Two motorcycles reported stolen were recovered and will be returned to their owners. An alleged goat thief nevertheless managed to flee, abandoning his motorcycle at the scene.

The haul recovered by the police is substantial: 51 mobile phones, 55 kg of stolen iron bars, a bag of salt, a jerrycan of gasoline, as well as various clothing items and vehicle parts.
