Who will produce the AFCON Morocco 2025 anthem in Benin? Steve Mounié challenges Fanicko
Two months before the kick-off of the Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025, the captain of Benin’s Cheetahs, Steve Mounié, made a surprising appeal to Beninese artist Fanicko. In a short video shared on social media, the Beninese international calls for an anthem for the continental competition, which is still absent to date.

SUMMARY
The captain of Benin’s Cheetahs, Steve Mounié, is asking Fanicko for the official AFCON anthem. “Yo, I’m at the gym right now. I’m looking for a track to get me hyped and I’m thinking. We’re two months from AFCON and there hasn’t been any AFCON song released yet. That’s serious, that’s serious,” Steve Mounié said in the video. Smiling but visibly serious in his tone, the captain continued by identifying Fanicko, a Beninese singer.
“So Fanicko, I’m calling on you, Fanicko, please. We’re two months from AFCON, please, you need to put out a track for me, please. So I can get hyped already, so I can get into the mood, so I can prepare myself mentally for what’s ahead. I’m counting on you, come on…”

Fanicko under pressure, the public awaits the response
Known for his catchy rhythms and festive songs, Fanicko is now being called upon by an entire nation and especially by Benin’s Cheetahs. The Beninese public hopes he will take up the challenge launched by Steve Mounié by giving the nation a track capable of uniting fans and players under the same vibe.
The idea of an anthem led by a figure from Beninese urban music could strengthen the patriotic momentum around the national team. In the meantime, the ball is in Fanicko’s court, and Benin is holding its breath. But for now, the question remains open, and if Fanicko doesn’t answer this call, other Beninese artists will take up the challenge.
