SUMMARY

After several months of rehabilitation work, the renovated premises were officially reopened on Friday, May 29, 2026. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was presided over by the president of the High Authority for Audiovisual and Communication (HAAC), Édouard Loko, accompanied on this occasion by the institution’s advisors, heads of professional organizations, and a large delegation of journalists.

This transformation embodies a strong promise of the new tenure of the HAAC. In October 2025, during a visit to this site, which was then marked by dilapidation and neglect, Édouard Loko had committed to providing media professionals with a dignified and modern working environment. A few months later, the bet is fulfilled.

Present at the inauguration, Evariste Hodonou, president of the National Council of the Patrons of the Press and Audiovisual (CNPA-Benin), warmly praised the pragmatism and leadership of the HAAC president, who thus breathes new life into a major sectoral heritage.

An appeal for action and dynamism in the private press

While speaking, the president of the regulatory authority emphasized the collective and symbolic dimension of this infrastructure. Édouard Loko invited the entire industry to take ownership of the space and ensure its rigorous management, reminding everyone that this building is primarily the common house of all media professionals.

He took this opportunity to express his gratitude to the highest authorities of the State, who made this project possible through the allocation of public aid to the private press, commending the managerial vision of former president Patrice Talon and the continuity of action assured by the current head of State, Romuald Wadagni.

Beyond the aesthetic renovation, the challenge now lies in bringing this space to life. The HAAC president urged umbrella associations to be creative by proposing structuring projects and useful training sessions to energize the sector, while ensuring that the institution will continue its efforts to equip the offices with cutting-edge technological tools.

The ribbon-cutting was followed by a guided tour of the facilities, allowing media stakeholders to discover newly refurbished meeting rooms and workspaces, ready to host future debates and major events in the national media landscape.
