CAN 2025/Semi-final: “Morocco is formidable,” Alex Iwobi warns Nigeria.
Impressed by the solidity of the Atlas Lions, the Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi expects a high-level semifinal as Nigeria and Morocco face off this Wednesday for a place in the Africa Cup of Nations 2025 final.

Alex Iwobi is bracing for a huge challenge. As the Africa Cup of Nations semifinal approaches, the Super Eagles midfielder acknowledged the strength of Morocco, which he regards as one of the tournament’s most formidable opponents.
The Fulham player said he was particularly impressed by the Atlas Lions’ performance against Cameroon. As hosts of the tournament, Morocco will head to Rabat on Wednesday with strong arguments, facing a Nigeria that qualified after a convincing 2-0 victory over Algeria.
Seeking their first continental title since 2013, the Super Eagles will have to measure themselves against a Moroccan side that has waited for a title since 1976 and that is brimming with talents playing at the highest European level. From Noussair Mazraoui to Achraf Hakimi, including Brahim Díaz, Youssef En-Nesyri, and Ayoub El Kaabi, the squad led by Walid Regragui displays impressive depth.
“The day before our match against Algeria, I watched Morocco beat Cameroon. They look really intimidating.”, Iwobi said on Alexander Yaa Digg’s YouTube channel, before adding with determination: “But we must believe. Our team is strong.“ A victory against the Atlas Lions would give Nigeria a second consecutive Africa Cup of Nations final.
