Ballon d’Or 2025: Mbappé refuses to back Lamine Yamal
In the running for the prestigious individual award, Kylian Mbappé also weighed in on the 2025 Ballon d’Or, with the winner to be announced in a few weeks. And the Real Madrid forward sidestepped the idea of Lamine Yamal winning the trophy.
Kylian Mbappé chose not to back Lamine Yamal in the race for the 2025 Ballon d’Or. Speaking to the German daily Bild, the France captain acknowledged the FC Barcelona prodigy’s talent while dodging the idea of seeing him crowned.
“ Lamine Yamal? He’s a very good player, but he’s from Barcelona… I can’t say anything ”, he said, in remarks also reported by Le Parisien.
Mbappé and Yamal are both among the 30 nominees for the prestigious trophy. The young Spain international is coming off an impressive season with Barça, capped by a Champions League semifinal and a La Liga-Copa del Rey double.
