Seduced by the journey and the style of the Super Eagles at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, the Angolan Football Federation wants to lure the Malian coach after the Palancas Negras’ failure in Morocco.
The Angolan Football Federation is planning an ambitious move on the coaching market. According to Daily Post, the Angolan body would like to attract Éric Chelle, currently in charge in Nigeria, impressed by the work done by the Malian coach during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Under his leadership, the Super Eagles left a lasting impression in Morocco with attacking and appealing football, generating interest from several African national teams. According to SCORENigeria, Angola has gone on the offensive by proposing to double Chelle’s salary to convince him to join the Palancas Negras.
Currently earning $50,000 per month and still under contract for another year with the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), Éric Chelle would be offered a $100,000-per-month contract to take the helm of the Angolan national team. A strategic move for Angola, seeking renewal after a disappointing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, with the Palancas Negras eliminated in the group stage.
