Newcastle United defeated Hull City 2-1 on Saturday, September 19, at St James’ Park during the fifth round of the Premier League. Joe Willock and Lewis Hall scored within the first seven minutes, handing the promoted side their first defeat of the season.

Willock opened the scoring in the 3rd minute with a pass from Harvey Barnes. Four minutes later, Barnes initiated another attack that was finished by Hall, extending the Magpies’ lead to 2-0.

Newcastle had the chance to increase their lead before halftime, but Yoane Wissa saw his penalty saved by Konstantinos Tzolakis. Hull revived their hopes in the 67th minute with a goal from Mohamed-Ali Cho.

The Tigers then pushed for an equalizer but were unable to secure a draw. Their unbeaten streak in the Premier League, which began after their return to the top flight, came to an end at St James’ Park.

For Newcastle, this victory marks a rebound after the 4-1 defeat against Leeds in the previous round.
