Coventry City secured their first victory of the season in the Premier League with a 1-0 win against Nottingham Forest on Saturday, September 19. Jay Dasilva scored the only goal of the match, marking the Sky Blues’ first goal in the English top flight in 25 years.

The left-back broke the deadlock in the 55th minute at the City Ground. After receiving a long pass, he controlled the ball before finishing in front of the visiting supporters, giving Coventry their first points after four consecutive league defeats.

Nottingham Forest thought they had equalized late in the match through Igor Jesus, but the goal was disallowed following a VAR review. The referee penalized the Brazilian forward for a foul on Caleb Yirenkyi in the build-up to the goal.

Coventry entered this fifth matchday without a single point or goal in the Premier League since their return to the top tier. Frank Lampard’s team had notably suffered a heavy 5-0 defeat against Brighton in the previous round.

The victory at the City Ground ends this streak and marks Coventry’s first win in the Premier League since 2001, the year of their last relegation. Nottingham Forest, on the other hand, missed the chance to secure a second consecutive league win.
