Shakira draws 55,000 fans to launch her residency in Madrid

Shakira kicked off her Madrid residency on Friday, September 18, 2026, in front of approximately 55,000 fans. The Colombian singer performed the first of twelve scheduled concerts at Macondo Park, a large temporary venue set up around the Iberdrola Music in the Villaverde neighborhood.

For nearly two hours, the 49-year-old artist showcased over three decades of her career with around thirty songs. The show, featuring choreography, visual effects, and multiple costume changes, concluded with her recorded session alongside Argentine producer Bizarrap.

The concert marks the beginning of a series spread over four weekends, running until October 11. With a reported capacity of 55,000 attendees per night, the total number of dates could accommodate more than 600,000 fans.

Shakira did not limit her transformation to the stage. Macondo Park also features a museum dedicated to her career, a library inspired by the works of Gabriel García Márquez, spaces dedicated to gastronomy, Latin American fashion, and family-friendly activities.

On stage, the singer also reflected on her history with the Spanish capital. Before performing Te dejo Madrid, she shared that a Madrilenian had “somewhat” broken her heart when she was 19, without revealing the identity of that past relationship.

This residency comes just days after the announcement of “Agua,” her first collaboration with Maluma in eight years. The track, featuring merengue sounds, was unveiled ahead of the Madrid opening.

Madrid serves as the central European stop of the Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran tour. The initiative combines Shakira’s concerts with a cultural program celebrating Latin American culture throughout the twelve days.
