Premier League: Barry secures 1-0 victory for Everton, fifth and still unbeaten

Everton defeated Ipswich 1-0 on Saturday, September 19, at Hill Dickinson Stadium, thanks to Thierno Barry. This victory allows the Toffees to extend their unbeaten start to the Premier League season and climb to fifth place.

Barry scored in the 11th minute by deflecting a long-range shot from James Tarkowski, catching Christian Walton off guard. The forward came close to doubling the lead before halftime, but his header went wide.

Everton thought they had doubled their advantage after the hour mark when Barry headed in a corner from Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall. However, the goal was disallowed following a VAR review, as Brennan Johnson was deemed offside and interfering with the Ipswich goalkeeper.

Ipswich finished the match with ten men after Abdul Fatawu was sent off in the 67th minute. Already booked, the winger received a second yellow card for simulation. Prior to this dismissal, Jordan Pickford had denied several attempts from the visitors, notably from Julio Enciso and Abdoul Ouattara.

Everton registered a total of 21 shots but only two were on target, failing to secure a more comfortable lead. Nevertheless, the 1-0 scoreline was enough for David Moyes’ team to maintain their unbeaten run in the league and sit in fifth place after this matchday.
