Premier League: Leeds thrashes Newcastle 4-1 to climb to 3rd place

Noah Okafor added a fourth goal in the 59th minute with a half-volley, confirming Leeds’ clear dominance. Newcastle managed to pull one back late in the match through Bazoumana Touré, who came on in the second half.

Leeds remains unbeaten in the league with two wins and two draws. This streak places the promoted side in the top three after the fourth matchday, behind the two leading teams in the standings.

For Newcastle, this defeat marks the first under Matthias Jaissle. The Magpies, who started the match without several key players, drop to 12th place following this loss at Elland Road.

The previous Premier League encounter between the two teams had a completely different outcome on January 7, 2026. Newcastle won 4-3 at St James’ Park thanks to a goal from Harvey Barnes in the 12th minute of stoppage time.

This goal, scored after 101 minutes and 48 seconds of play, was noted by the Premier League as the latest winning goal recorded in the competition since data became available in 2006-2007.
