Brighton defeated Coventry City 5-0 on Sunday, September 13, 2026, at the Coventry Building Society Arena during the fourth round of Premier League. Newly promoted, the team managed by Frank Lampard has now lost all four of its opening matches without scoring a single goal.
Charalampos Kostoulas, Malick Yalcouyé, Pascal Gross, Lewis Dunk, and Yasin Ayari found the net for Brighton. Additionally, Coventry finished the match with ten men after Taiwo Awoniyi was sent off for violent conduct.
The result places Brighton near the top of the table following a strong offensive display away from home. Coventry, on the other hand, remains at the bottom, having conceded ten goals and scored none since the start of the campaign.
This streak is particularly severe for the newly promoted side: according to statistics reported by the English press, Coventry becomes only the second team in Premier League history to lose its first four matches of a season without scoring.
Lewis Dunk added one of the most spectacular goals of the match with a long-range strike, while Brighton dominated in terms of chances created. Coventry will travel to Nottingham Forest on Saturday, September 19, for their fifth match.
