Searchlight Pictures officially announced on Saturday, September 12, 2026, the sequel to The Family Stone. Titled The Families Stone, the film will reunite Rachel McAdams, Sarah Jessica Parker, Claire Danes, and several other cast members from the 2005 comedy.
The studio revealed the project on its social media channels with the tagline “Coming Soon.” Dermot Mulroney, Craig T. Nelson, Luke Wilson, Tyrone Giordano, Elizabeth Reaser, Paul Schneider, and Brian J. White are also part of the announced cast.
The story will take place twenty years after the death of Sybil Stone, the matriarch portrayed by Diane Keaton. The family will come together again for Christmas when Kelly Stone, played by Craig T. Nelson, announces that he is in love and introduces his new partner to his children.
