Paul Pogba is indeed included in the Monaco squad named to face Rennes on Saturday, a sign of an imminent return to competition after long months away. According to ESPN, the 2018 World Cup winner could even get a few minutes of playing time.

The 32-year-old midfielder hasn’t played an official match since 3 September 2023, when he came on for 28 minutes for Juventus against Empoli. A few weeks later he tested positive for DHEA, leading to a four-year ban imposed in February 2024. That sanction was ultimately reduced to 18 months following his appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

Having returned to collective training on Thursday and Friday, Pogba is expected to be part of the trip to Brittany if he experiences no discomfort. The Frenchman had originally been tipped to play again against Angers before the international break, but a slight ankle sprain suffered in training had delayed his comeback.
