“I was in love, it wasn’t for the money, we weren’t poor,” Regina Daniels
In a video posted on Instagram, Nigerian actress Regina Daniels told her truth about the reasons for her union with Senator Ned Nwoko. She says she acted out of love, not greed, and begs people online to stop insulting her mother, Rita Daniels, who has been accused of encouraging the marriage.

After weeks of controversy and rumors about her relationship with Senator Ned Nwoko, the Nollywood star broke her silence in a moving video posted Wednesday on Instagram. In a trembling voice, the young actress said she wanted to set the record straight about her marriage and defend her mother’s honor, who is often targeted on social media.
“The main purpose of this video is to ask you to stop insulting my mother,” Regina Daniels said. “I don’t understand why my life affects you so much. I’m in the spotlight, so you all have your say, but please, stop insulting my mother,” she pleaded.
The 25-year-old actress stressed that her mother never approved of her union with Ned Nwoko, despite public opinion that suspects her of having encouraged the marriage for financial reasons. “My mother did everything to stop me. She endured it all; she was strong for seven years. But I was in love. It wasn’t about the money. We weren’t poor.” she explained.
In this rare confession, Regina Daniels revealed she went through extreme psychological distress to the point of contemplating the worst. “I was going to kill myself if I didn’t marry Ned. Everyone was after me. My brothers were fighting, breaking bottles. I ended up going to the police station and saying, ‘arrest me.'” she recounted, highlighting the emotional pressure she was under at the time.
Despite the current turmoil and the accusations of domestic violence she recently made against her husband, Regina says she wants to turn the page and focus on her children, Munir and Khalifa. “I’ll fight for them. I’ll raise them with or without your support, Ned. You know it… ex-husband”, she said in tears.
