Franco Mastantuono will experience a new environment. After a promising first season at Real Madrid marked by encouraging beginnings but gradually reduced playing time, the young Argentine attacking midfielder has been sent to Italy to continue his development under the Fiorentina colors. The 19-year-old player had quickly impressed during his first appearances under Xabi Alonso. Used on the right flank of the Madrid attack, Mastantuono even secured a starting position before gradually slipping down the pecking order.

Faced with significant competition within the Merengue squad, Real Madrid opted for a loan solution. This decision aims to allow the Argentine to participate in more matches and continue his learning away from the pressure of Santiago-Bernabéu. The change of coach did not ultimately alter this direction. After several weeks of training under José Mourinho, Mastantuono’s departure was approved by the Portuguese manager.

Real Madrid officially confirmed the destination of their young player this Wednesday. Mastantuono will wear the Fiorentina jersey during the 2026-2027 season. Signed from River Plate for over 60 million euros, the Argentine is only temporarily leaving Madrid. The Italian club will not have any option to buy at the end of his loan. Unless there are new developments, Mastantuono will return to the Spanish capital in the summer of 2027, with the ambition to come back more experienced and to establish himself permanently in the Madrid squad.
