Formula 1: Jamie Chadwick becomes the second woman to test a Williams

Triple W Series champion, the 28-year-old Brit joins the short list of female drivers who have driven a recent Formula 1 car.

Williams announced on Thursday, September 24, that Jamie Chadwick completed 32 laps in the FW47 of 2025, three days earlier at the Portimão circuit in Portugal. She becomes the second woman to test a Formula 1 car for the British team, following Susie Wolff in 2015.

Chadwick remains an ambassador for Williams and an advisor for the F1 Academy. She is currently competing in the European Le Mans Series in the LMP2 category and also serves as a reserve driver for Genesis’s Hypercar program.

This test comes a few months after Doriane Pin’s test with Mercedes. No woman has started a Formula 1 Grand Prix since Lella Lombardi in 1976.
