Formula 1: Ocon declares himself free for 2027 and opens the door to a departure from Haas

Esteban Ocon stated on Wednesday, September 23, in Baku that he considers himself free for the 2027 Formula 1 season and is in discussions with other teams. However, he has not ruled out extending his contract with Haas.
His contract with the American team expires this year. Haas has yet to finalize its driver line-up for 2027, while Ocon explained that several discussions are beyond his control and that he will continue to fight until the end of the season.
The French driver, who joined Haas in 2025, currently sits in 18th place in the championship with three points, compared to 18 points for Oliver Bearman, who is in 13th place. His ninth-place finish in Monaco in June remains the team’s last points-scoring result.
