Finneas leaves Ed Sheeran’s tour following Macklemore’s removal

Finneas announced on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, that he would no longer accompany Ed Sheeran on his South American tour. The musician joins Aaron Rowe, Lukas Graham, and the band Beoga, all of whom have also exited the tour following Macklemore’s removal due to his pro-Palestinian statements.

The four withdrawals were revealed on Instagram just hours after Ed Sheeran’s public response. Finneas, brother and collaborator of Billie Eilish, was set to perform several opening acts in Chile, Paraguay, Argentina, and Brazil starting in November.

The singer and producer explained that he would not stand by while artists are silenced for defending oppressed populations. He confirmed his support for the Palestinians without directly implicating Ed Sheeran in his message.

Aaron Rowe, who was to replace Macklemore on several U.S. dates, also announced his withdrawal. The Irish artist described Ed Sheeran as a friend who has played a significant role in his career, while stating that he could not continue the tour under these circumstances.

Beoga, the Northern Irish band that served as Ed Sheeran’s backing group, cited their commitment to the Irish Artists for Palestine movement. The Danish group Lukas Graham also withdrew from their dates, asserting that financial power should not dictate which voices are allowed to speak.

Macklemore was removed from the U.S. leg of the “Loop Tour” after he shouted “Free Palestine” during a concert at MetLife Stadium on September 5. Messina Touring Group stated that several venues refused to host the shows if the rapper remained on the bill.

Ed Sheeran insisted that Macklemore’s removal did not come from him. The British singer said he had tried to mediate between the parties while explaining that he did not want to turn his concerts into political platforms.

The tour is scheduled to resume on Saturday, September 19, in Philadelphia. The withdrawals affect the U.S. and South American dates, while organizers have yet to announce the artists or musicians who will replace them.
