Roller: 7 young Beninese selected from 12 for sports studies in France

Seven young roller athletes from Benin, chosen from twelve candidates, are set to travel to France as part of the Sports Studies project organized by the Beninese Roller Sports Federation (FBRS). They were introduced on Sunday, September 13, 2026, at the federation’s headquarters in Cotonou before their departure, where they will combine schooling with high-level training.

This second group will be welcomed at the facilities in Espalion and Dijon. The FBRS plans to provide regular monitoring of the participants and has established a dual requirement: to improve on the tracks while maintaining good academic results.

The program involves collaboration between the FBRS, the International Confederation of Francophone Sports Unions (CIUSF), and Francophonie Skate. In January, Francophonie Skate clarified that its partnership with the Immaculate Conception High School in Espalion opens up opportunities for sports studies for the best athletes from affiliated federations.

All seven beneficiaries are minors. They met with their parents before departure to clarify the objectives of their stay and the conditions for monitoring. Amine Soulé, a member of Aigle Skater, spoke on behalf of the group to emphasize the expected performance both in school and on the tracks.

The Beninese federation also plans visits to the centers in Espalion and Dijon to assess their progress. The president of the FBRS, Marius Tchibozo, stated that continued participation in the program would depend on the sports and academic results achieved.

This selection extends a first group already engaged in the same project. The presence of a parent from a beneficiary of this initial cohort during the presentation in Cotonou allowed the FBRS to reiterate the program’s operation before the departure of the seven new athletes.
