Macklemore removed from Ed Sheeran’s tour following his statements on Gaza
The promoter of the "Loop Tour" has confirmed the rapper's removal from the eight U.S. dates he was still scheduled to open.
Macklemore was removed on Monday, September 14, 2026, from the upcoming U.S. dates of Ed Sheeran’s “Loop” tour. Messina Touring Group, the show’s promoter, confirmed the decision after several venues refused to host concerts featuring the rapper.
The promoter stated that keeping Macklemore on the line-up could lead to the cancellation of certain shows and deprive hundreds of thousands of fans of the concerts. Following discussions with the involved parties, the artist will no longer participate in the eight opening acts he was scheduled to perform.
The controversy dates back to September 4, at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. During his opening set for Ed Sheeran, Macklemore made a call in support of Palestine, displayed images of Gaza, and performed “Hind’s Hall,” a song in which he criticizes Israeli policy. A petition backed by the Israeli American Council subsequently called for his removal from the tour.
Macklemore responded on Instagram, attributing the decision to Ed Sheeran and his team. However, the rapper refused to portray himself as a victim and refocused his message on the Palestinians. He also reiterated that his criticism of the Israeli government was not aimed at Jewish people, while calling for peace and equality.
Ed Sheeran had not publicly commented on the decision at the time of publication. The next U.S. stop on the “Loop Tour” is scheduled for Friday in Philadelphia. Lukas Graham and Aaron Rowe are still announced as the artists set to open the concerts.
