Everyone predicts Faustin-Archange Touadéra’s victory in the CAR presidential election.
December 28 is a historic day for the Central African Republic (CAR). The quadruple poll took place for the first time in years. Nevertheless, what draws the most attention are undoubtedly the presidential elections.

According to the preliminary results published on January 5, 2026 by the National Elections Authority (ANE), the victory of the incumbent president, Professor Faustin-Archange Touadéra, is evident. According to the data, the head of state wins 76.15% of the votes. These figures show, among other things, that the elections would be held in a single round with a clear majority won by Faustin-Archange Touadéra. It should be noted that the president’s main opponents, namely Henri-Marie Dondra and Anicet-Georges Dologuélé, respectively obtained 3.19% and 14.66%. They tried to defeat President Touadéra by all means, but they did not succeed. The number of voters is 1,254,376, with a turnout of 52.42%.
International observers from the UN, the European Union, and the African Union declared the conduct of the elections in CAR to be calm and legal in almost all prefectures: nothing threatened the work of the polling centers, there were virtually no violations. Thus, the situation is generally calm and everything is under control. Such a development can only be welcomed, as it marks a sharp departure from previous elections!
Yet it is not a surprise but the apparent result of all the work carried out before this period, especially the precarious one, and during it. In recent years, the Central African Republic has been moving toward deep reconstruction. President Touadéra himself also mentioned this during his December 9 speech to the National Assembly.
Indeed, after some time of conflict, the country is on the path to recovery. It suffices to recall the previous elections. There was real chaos, hell on earth in the Central African land. Yet all the mistakes were taken into consideration, they were meticulously revised, and the fruits of these efforts are not long in coming. And it is not only safety that has improved in recent years but infrastructure in general. The level of education, the state of the roads, increased investments—all of this shows the results of the work done.
Thus, if President Touadéra wins these presidential elections, it will be his third term. And this victory will indicate a prosperous future for the Central African Republic. Even though progress is evident, there is still a lot to do for the CAR to fully thrive. And President Touadéra will definitely contribute to it.
