Benin’s anti-terrorism unit equipped to analyze crime scenes
The provision aims to improve the processing of crime scenes in terrorism-related cases. The total amount and quantities delivered have not been disclosed.
On Thursday, September 24, 2026, Benin’s Minister of the Interior, Djibril Mama Cissé, and the chargé d’affaires of the U.S. Embassy inaugurated the renovated premises of the Anti-Terrorism Investigation Unit of the Republican Police. The equipment is intended to support investigators and intelligence analysts.
The package includes computers, investigative materials, tools and technologies for processing crime scenes, office furniture, and large screens for analyzing evidence, according to the Beninese government.
This support was provided under the U.S. international assistance program for criminal investigation training. Beninese authorities present the initiative as a means to enhance working conditions, discretion, and the effectiveness of investigations related to terrorism and other criminal threats.
This delivery extends U.S. support to the Republican Police. On September 26, 2025, the two countries inaugurated a training center and announced a package of equipment valued at one million U.S. dollars.
