Yannick Carrasco explains Eden Hazard’s failure at Real Madrid
Former teammate of Eden Hazard, Yannick Carrasco attributes the Belgian’s difficult spell at Real Madrid to his recurring injuries, which have hampered his adaptation and continuity at the highest level.

A former midfielder for Atlético Madrid, Yannick Carrasco has shared his analysis of Eden Hazard’s failure at Real Madrid, which he mainly attributes to repeated injuries. Interviewed on Rubén Uría’s YouTube channel, the Belgian international revisited his compatriot’s troubled spell in the Spanish capital, after his arrival in 2019 from Chelsea.
« Outside of Atlético, Eden Hazard is the best player with whom I’ve ever played», Carrasco said. Before adding: « He didn’t succeed at Real Madrid because of injuries. Sometimes, you simply can’t do anything about it. » The current Al-Shabab player has also spoken about the recurring physical issues of his former teammate: « Hazard had an ankle problem that never really resolved itself. We compensate for the pain, and that leads to other injuries, notably to the hamstrings or quadriceps. »
