Turkey: Salah scores hat-trick and provides assist as Galatasaray falls 4-0

Mohamed Salah delivered a standout performance on Saturday, September 19, guiding Trabzonspor to a 4-0 victory over Galatasaray. The Egyptian forward netted three goals and provided an assist, handing the reigning champions their first defeat of the season in the Süper Lig.

Salah opened the scoring in the 4th minute after a long run from midfield, before assisting Noah Saviolo for the second goal in the 39th minute. He then completed his brace in the 44th minute with a pass from Franculino Dju, allowing Trabzonspor to head into halftime with a three-goal lead.

The former Liverpool player completed his hat-trick in the 80th minute following another surge initiated from his own half. Trabzonspor officially confirmed the four scorers and the final score on their website, while Reuters also detailed Salah’s hat-trick and assist.

The evening took a further turn in favor of the hosts after Galatasaray’s coach, Okan Buruk, was sent to the stands in the 71st minute. The visitors then finished the match with ten men after Lesley Ugochukwu received a red card in the 87th minute.

Trabzonspor is now three points behind Galatasaray.

This victory lifts Trabzonspor to fifth place with 10 points after six matches, three points behind Galatasaray, who remain at the top despite their first defeat. For Thomas Reis, appointed as Trabzonspor’s coach this week, this marks a particularly significant first win at the helm of the club.

Salah, who joined Trabzonspor this summer after leaving Liverpool, has now increased his tally to seven goals in the Turkish league. He had previously scored against Amed Sportif and Gençlerbirliği, as well as netting a brace against Istanbul Başakşehir.
