Media regulation in Benin: Maranatha TV put on notice
The High Authority for Audiovisual and Communication (HAAC) has launched disciplinary action against Télévision Maranatha Bénin, a channel broadcasting on the national audiovisual scene.

In a decision dated December 16, 2025 and published recently, the regulatory body put the channel’s promoter on formal notice for repeated breaches of its contractual obligations.
According to decision no. 25-085/HAAC, the channel, run by the Conseil des Églises Protestantes Évangéliques du Bénin, did not comply with the programming schedule approved when its audiovisual concession agreement was signed in June 2024.
The HAAC accuses the television station of broadcasting almost exclusively music, a lineup judged incompatible with the commitments made and the legal requirements.
This is not the first time the regulator has called out the channel. A first warning had already been sent by official letter to Maranatha Bénin’s management on June 24, 2025, after which no substantial change in the programming was observed.
The formal notice states that, unless the operator immediately complies with the approved programming schedule, it faces harsher sanctions, which may include revoking its operating authorization in accordance with the laws governing audiovisual broadcasting in Benin.
