Ligue 1 LONACI: Yamoussoukro FC defeats champion ASEC Mimosas 1-0

The title defense begins with a setback for ASEC Mimosas. The Yellow and Black fell 1-0 to Yamoussoukro FC on Saturday during the opening match of the Ligue 1 LONACI.

After a cautious start, the hosts broke the deadlock in the 31st minute. Mory Doumbia seized an opportunity to beat ASEC’s defense and put Yamoussoukro FC ahead on the scoreboard.

Trailing at halftime, the team coached by Julien Chevalier attempted to pick up the pace after the break. However, they were unable to equalize against an opponent that maintained its lead until the final whistle.

Yamoussoukro FC thus secures three points in its first match of the season, with one goal scored and none conceded. ASEC, the defending champion, remains at zero points after this false start.
