Niger to send 500 youths for training in Algeria starting September 29

Niger will send 500 youths to Algeria on September 29 and 30, 2026, for vocational training lasting between 20 and 45 days. The beneficiaries, selected from all regions of the country, will be trained in 19 technical fields.

According to the Nigerien Press Agency, the fields were chosen based on a study by the National Employment Observatory regarding labor market needs. Among the specialties mentioned are building electricity, plumbing, and welding. The first group is scheduled to depart Niamey on September 29 at 11:50 pm, with the second group leaving the following day at 10:25 am.

The Nigerien Ministry of Public Service, Labor, and Employment presents this program as a concrete outcome of cooperation with Algeria. The training is reported to be free for the beneficiaries.

Upon their return, a support system for professional integration is planned. However, the authorities have not yet specified the assistance, timeline, or criteria. The complete list of the 19 trades, the program’s cost, and details regarding transportation and accommodation have also not been published.

The program was previously mentioned in August during the launch of oil operations in the Kafra block, another aspect of cooperation between Niger and Algeria.
