CAN 2027 Qualifiers: Lemina and Allevinah ruled out, Gabon calls up two reinforcements ahead of clash with Morocco
Sébastien Migné's squad has been reshuffled just days before the trip to Morocco, with two injury withdrawals and two reinforcements.
Mario Lemina and Jim Allevinah will miss Gabon’s first two matches in the CAN 2027 qualifiers. Coach Sébastien Migné has called up Randy Essang Matouti and Clech Loufilou to complete his squad ahead of the trip to Morocco and the subsequent match against Niger.
Lemina was included in the initial list of 24 players announced by the Gabonese coach. The Galatasaray midfielder, who is suffering from a right adductor injury, was already a doubt at the time of selection. Migné had hoped to have him available for the second match, but his absence has now been confirmed.
Allevinah will also miss both fixtures. The Angers forward sustained an adductor injury during last weekend’s league match against Troyes. The coach confirmed both absences from Morocco, where his staff is preparing for the Panthers’ opening match.
To compensate for these withdrawals, Gabon has called up Randy Essang Matouti, a player from MC Oran in Algeria, and Clech Loufilou, who plays for Al-Jandal in Saudi Arabia. Both players were not included in the initial list published prior to the gathering.
Gabon will face Morocco on September 25 for the first day of the qualifiers, before hosting Niger on September 29.
