In Abidjan, workplace well-being takes center stage at the Oscars on September 12

The fifth edition of the Oscars for Well-Being and Quality of Work Life will take place on Saturday, September 12, at the Sofitel Hôtel Ivoire in Abidjan. The ceremony will honor African initiatives dedicated to improving working conditions, work-life balance, and organizational health.

The event, dubbed the “Night of Happiness at Work,” will bring together companies, human resources leaders, occupational health professionals, and communication stakeholders. Organizers expect over 300 professionals to attend this fifth edition.

The selection process began in August. More than 30 candidates presented their projects during the “Grand Speech” sessions on August 12 and 13, in front of a jury composed of seven experts from human resources and occupational health. Projects are evaluated based on innovation, effectiveness, sustainability, and the quality of their presentation.

Awards will include categories for innovation in well-being and quality of work life, equality and work-life balance, as well as technologies applied to employee well-being. The trophy presentation is scheduled to follow the announcement of results, which took place on August 14.

The Benin has already made its mark in this ranking. At the fourth edition, held on August 30, 2025, in Abidjan, the Autonomous Port of Cotonou was recognized for its practices related to working conditions and skills development.

In its communication released after the ceremony, the Autonomous Port of Cotonou highlighted the quality of human relations, social climate, ongoing training, and professional support among the factors considered. The Beninese establishment won the Oscar for the best initiative in “Employability and Professional Development” in the Large Enterprises category.
