The arrests took place in a neighborhood known as a gathering point frequented by dealers and users of the illicit substance.

According to authorities, these people were suspected of being involved in the sale and distribution of cannabis in the urban center, an illegal activity that fuels not only the underground economy but also local insecurity. The security forces said the operation aimed to dismantle a network active in the area, often referred to as “ghetto” by residents.

During the intervention, police officers seized large quantities of cannabis as well as other items related to trafficking. The thirteen suspects were taken to the Godomey police station to be questioned, then placed in custody pending a possible transfer to the competent judicial authorities.

The police stressed that this action is part of ongoing efforts to combat drugs, particularly in urban areas where the illicit trade is often linked to other forms of crime.

Investigations are continuing to identify any possible accomplices and the origin of the network.
