Formula 1: Hadjar returns to Red Bull after three Grand Prix absences
The French driver's recovery ends Liam Lawson's interim role, who returns to Racing Bulls. Hadjar will resume competition on Saturday on the streets of Baku.
Isack Hadjar will return to the Red Bull cockpit at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix after missing three races due to a wrist injury. The team confirmed on Tuesday that the French driver has sufficiently recovered to resume competition in Baku.
The 21-year-old driver did not participate in the Dutch, Italian, and Spanish Grands Prix after injuring himself during a physical training session during the summer break. His third consecutive absence was confirmed prior to the Madrid race.
Hadjar will rejoin Max Verstappen in the main team. Liam Lawson, who was called up as a temporary replacement, will return to Racing Bulls after scoring points in two of the three races he contested with Red Bull.
This return also reinstates Yuki Tsunoda to his role as reserve driver. The Japanese driver had temporarily joined Racing Bulls to cover for Lawson during Hadjar’s absence.
Free practice for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix will begin on Thursday on the streets of Baku. Qualifying will take place on Friday, and the race on Saturday, with the schedule moved up due to the national day of remembrance observed on Sunday in the country.
