Florida: man found under couple’s bed in hotel

A 25-year-old man was arrested on September 10 in Doral, Florida, after being discovered under the bed of a couple in a hotel room. According to the arrest report reviewed by U.S. media, a police officer found him still hiding under the furniture.

The couple had checked into the Provident Doral hotel the day before. The woman told investigators that she felt movements near the bed around 4:00 am, and then under it around 6:30 am. When she checked under the bed a little over an hour later, she reportedly spotted the intruder. The two occupants left the room and alerted the hotel security.

According to Doral police, the man had climbed over a balcony fence before entering the room through a rear sliding door. Investigators stated that he then hid under the bed while the couple was sleeping. No injuries were reported.

The suspect had previously stayed at the hotel and left on August 31, according to the security manager cited in the report. He was reportedly told not to return. However, a few days later, he returned to the premises to retrieve some belongings before being escorted out.

Miami-Dade County jail and court records indicate that he is charged with burglary of an occupied dwelling and resisting an officer without violence. He refused to answer questions without a lawyer after being informed of his rights, according to WPLG/Local 10.
