CAF Cup: Durban City beats Rukinzo 2-1 and advances 3-1 on aggregate

Durban City qualified for the second preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup on Sunday, September 13, 2026. The South African club defeated Rukinzo 2-1 at the Intwari Stadium in Bujumbura, securing a 3-1 aggregate victory over the two legs.

Kyle Jurgens put the visitors ahead just 32 seconds into the match, converting a cross from John Mokone. Samkelo Maseko doubled the lead in the 36th minute, before Destin Manirho pulled one back for Rukinzo with eight minutes remaining.

Durban City entered this return leg with a one-goal advantage following their 1-0 victory on September 6 at Moses Mabhida Stadium. The KwaZulu-Natal club thus won both legs of this tie against the Burundian representative.

This qualification extends Durban City’s inaugural continental campaign. The club is participating in CAF interclub competitions for the first time this season.
