Romania: a 5,055-meter table sets a world record in Bucharest

A table measuring 5,055 meters was awarded the Guinness World Record for the longest table made from recycled materials on Saturday, September 12, 2026, in Bucharest. The charity event attracted approximately 20,000 attendees, according to its organizers.

Named “Masa care Unește,” or “The Table that Unites,” the installation stretched along Union Boulevard to Constitution Square, in front of the Palace of Parliament. A representative from Guinness World Records presented the certificate to the organizers following the official measurement.

The gathering also aimed to raise funds for the construction of a pediatric psychiatry facility within the Obregia Hospital complex in Bucharest. The project plans for a five-story building covering 3,900 square meters, funded by private donations and sponsorships.

The Bloom The World association and the Metropolis Foundation present this future facility as the first Romanian hospital entirely dedicated to the mental health of children and adolescents. They estimate it could accommodate over 5,700 young people suffering from severe disorders each year.

The new record surpasses the one set by the same organizers in September 2025 in Alba Iulia, where the previous table made from recyclable materials measured 2,782.96 meters and gathered 10,000 participants.
