Irish authorities have seized approximately five kilograms of cocaine, valued at an estimated 500,000 euros, concealed in lollipop bags at Dublin Airport. A man in his sixties has been arrested and charged.
The discovery occurred on Thursday, September 10, 2026, during baggage checks of a passenger arriving on a flight from Brazil. Officers from the Irish Revenue and Customs were assisted by the Ballymun drug unit.
According to a statement released on Saturday by the Irish Revenue, the operation is part of “Operation Skein,” an investigation led by the Garda National Economic Crime Bureau. The drugs were hidden inside several packages presented as lollipop bags.
The suspect, whose identity has not been disclosed, appeared in Dublin’s criminal court on Friday, September 11. His charge does not imply guilt, and the investigation is ongoing.
Searches conducted following the arrest also led police to seize 16,000 euros in cash and other controlled substances valued at 14,500 euros. Authorities did not specify where these additional searches took place.
