Thirteen people were killed and eight others injured on Friday, September 11, 2026, in a collision involving a minibus, a car, and a truck transporting timber in the Arkhangelsk region of northern Russia. Two children were among the deceased.

The accident occurred on the federal M8 “Kholmogory” highway in the Kholmogory district. The minibus was operating a regular service from Severodvinsk, according to regional authorities cited by local media.

According to an initial report from the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs to the RIA news agency, the minibus reportedly attempted to overtake another vehicle before colliding with the truck. All three vehicles involved ended up off the roadway.

Rescue services transported eight injured individuals to medical facilities. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the collision and any potential liabilities.

The governor of the region, Alexander Tsyboulsky, declared Saturday, September 12, a day of mourning. Flags are to be flown at half-mast on public buildings, and entertainment events have been canceled throughout the region.
