Combating the trafficking of psychotropic substances: a new seizure carried out in Cotonou
The Republican Police continues its relentless fight against the illicit trafficking of psychotropic products. On the night of Friday, June 13, 2025, around 11 p.m., a targeted operation conducted at a bus terminal in Cotonou by elements of the 5th district police station allowed for the interception of a significant batch of psychotropic products concealed in luggage destined for the hinterland.

The operation was carried out following reliable information leading to the apprehension of an individual, caught red-handed as he was about to dispatch several sheets of illicit substances via an intercity transport company.
The apprehended suspect was immediately handed over to the Central Office for the Repression of Illicit Drug Trafficking (OCERTID) for the appropriate judicial follow-up.
This seizure falls within the dynamics of intensifying the actions carried out by the security forces to eradicate criminal networks involved in the distribution and trade of psychotropic products. To date, several channels have been dismantled and significant quantities of drugs seized across the territory.
The Republican Police reaffirms its commitment to guaranteeing public security and invites the population to continue actively collaborating by reporting any suspicious behavior.
