Benin: Thursday, December 25 declared a public holiday
Thursday, 25 December 2025, corresponding to the celebration of Christmas, is declared a public holiday, non-working and paid throughout the national territory.
This measure is provided for by Law No. 90-019 of 27 July 1990, which sets the legal holidays in the Republic of Benin and governs the regime of public holidays applicable to public administrations and private entities.
The information was officially made public through a press release from the Ministry of Labour and Public Service, dated Friday, 19 December 2025. The document reminds the public of the obligation to comply with this legal provision.
On this occasion, the government, through Minister Adidjatou Mathys, sent its Merry Christmas wishes to the entire Christian community, as this feast marking the Nativity approaches.
