World Cup 2026: Sweden’s 26-man squad featuring Isak and Gyökeres
Back on the world stage after its absence at the 2022 edition, Sweden’s national team has officially announced its 26-player squad for the 2026 World Cup. Led by its attacking duo Alexander Isak and Viktor Gyökeres, the Scandinavian squad hopes to regain a major role on the international stage.

A few weeks before the start of the 2026 World Cup, the various national selections are beginning to reveal their final lists. This Tuesday, the Swedish Football Association presented the group of 26 players selected for the tournament. Absent from the World Cup in Qatar in 2022, Sweden is making its return with the aim of taking a step forward in a tough Group F featuring the Netherlands, Japan and Tunisia. Not surprisingly, the Swedish squad will be led by its two main attacking weapons: Alexander Isak and Viktor Gyökeres. The two forwards, who have had notable club seasons, embody the Scandinavians’ main attacking hopes.
The coach has also placed his trust in several experienced veterans such as Victor Lindelöf, Emil Holm, and Anthony Elanga. The younger generation will also be represented with the presence of the promising Lucas Bergvall. However, several notable absences are drawing attention. Dejan Kulusevski, still carrying a physical setback, was not selected. The same goes for Roony Bardghji, who has had limited playing time this season with FC Barcelona, as well as Hugo Larsson, absent from the final squad.
