Teqball: Gnanvi claims two titles, Dalila crowned champion of Benin
The 2026 national championship in Abomey-Calavi crowned Thémaud Gnanvi with a double victory in the men's events and Fènou Dalila Gnansounou as the women's champion.
Thémaud Gnanvi secured two titles at the national teqball championships held on September 11 and 12 in Abomey-Calavi. The player from Aïdégnon Teqball Club triumphed in the men’s singles and then in the men’s doubles alongside Josué Zoungla, while Fènou Dalila Gnansounou clinched the women’s title.
In the men’s singles final, Gnanvi defeated Chédrac Ahomadi from Tori Teqball Club in straight sets, 12-4 and 12-6. The Abomey-Calavi club then confirmed their dominance in the doubles, with Gnanvi and Zoungla overcoming the pair of Félicien Sambiéni and Tagali Sambiéni Charles from Union Sportive de la Pendjari.
In the women’s competition, Fènou Dalila Gnansounou from AS Teqball Ben Sport outperformed Sampa Judith Sanwekoua from Parakou Teqball Club with scores of 12-8 and 12-5. After being the runner-up in the previous edition, she secured the national title this time.
The competition brought together around thirty participants from six clubs and sports associations. Technical officials noted an improvement in the level of play compared to the previous edition, following two days of competition at the SOS Children’s Village in Abomey-Calavi.
The Benin Teqball Federation plans to hold two more national Opens to further develop the top players identified and prepare for upcoming international events, including the 2026 World Cup.
