Egypt: Intel to train one million citizens in AI each year

The Egyptian Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and Intel signed a three-year agreement on September 16 to train one million citizens annually in artificial intelligence concepts and their safe and responsible use.

The program will offer online training to various audiences as part of Intel’s “AI for Citizens” initiative. It will also include a component focused on digital trust and the responsible use of technology.

The agreement includes the certification of 1,500 trainers over three years, or 500 per year. These trainers will then conduct courses on artificial intelligence and pass on the skills acquired to local educational and training institutions.

The training will specifically target youth, students in technical and university programs, employees, job seekers, and public officials. Workshops on Intel’s computing infrastructure and technologies are also planned, along with support for participants in an annual AI-focused hackathon.

This partnership aligns with Egypt’s artificial intelligence strategy for the 2025-2030 period, which aims to develop national skills and increase the use of AI in the economy and services.

This initiative complements other recent digital training programs. On September 2, Egypt announced a partnership with Cisco to train 3,000 instructors in digital technologies.
