Raul Asensio, a central defender with Real Madrid, has been formally charged by Spanish authorities in a case involving the distribution of child pornography on social media, according to local media reports.

The 22-year-old faces possible jail time after the Court of Instruction in San Bartolomé de Tirajana confirmed the opening of criminal proceedings against him. The charges relate to an incident that allegedly took place on June 15, 2023, while Asensio was still part of Real Madrid’s youth academy.

According to the investigation, Asensio and three teammates reportedly shared intimate videos involving two women—one of whom was a minor at the time. The victims, aged 16 and 18 when the footage was uploaded, are said to be suffering from post-traumatic symptoms as a result of the ordeal.

The case has drawn widespread attention in Spain, with major outlets Marca and Mundo Deportivo covering the story extensively. As of now, Real Madrid has not issued an official statement regarding the charges against the young defender.
