Benin: Martin Assogba successfully operated on in Turkey after 13 years with two bullets lodged in his body.

Following the attack in 2013, which he linked to his advocacy for development, Martin Assogba was evacuated to France. At that time, the French medical team deemed the extraction operation too risky due to the location of the bullets in his head and neck.

For thirteen years, this situation has caused significant repercussions in his daily life, including chronic headaches, dizziness, and the onset of hypertension requiring daily treatment.

A delicate extraction carried out in Turkey

Accompanied by Envio Medical as part of a medical tourism program, the president of the NGO Alcrer was taken care of at the end of July by a qualified neurosurgeon in Turkey.

Despite the complexity of the procedure due to the deep embedding of one of the projectiles in the cervical region, the medical team was able to successfully remove both bullets.

Currently recovering in a hotel in Turkey after his discharge from the hospital, Martin Assogba expressed his relief in a video testimony widely shared on social media.

Although he anticipates a rehabilitation period of about two months to regain optimal physical stability, he assures that he can already walk with significantly less pain.
