Port-Gentil: Oligui Nguema launches construction of 848 housing units

Gabonese President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema launched the construction of 848 housing units in Lip Matanda, Port-Gentil, on Friday, September 25, 2026.

The project, awarded to a Chinese company, aims to increase the housing supply in Gabon’s economic capital and support the urban expansion of the city.

The initiative is also expected to generate job opportunities and activities for local residents. Authorities have urged the youth of Port-Gentil to take advantage of the opportunities associated with the construction site.

This program is part of a series of investments dedicated to housing and infrastructure in Ogooué-Maritime. The Council of Ministers announced several funding allocations for these sectors on September 18.
