La Liga: Mbappé scores twice as Real Madrid thrashes Rayo 4-1
Kylian Mbappé scored twice in Real Madrid's 4-1 victory over Rayo Vallecano on Saturday at the Bernabéu, where the Madrid side secured their fourth consecutive win.
Real Madrid defeated Rayo Vallecano 4-1 on Saturday, September 12, at the Santiago Bernabéu, with Kylian Mbappé netting a brace. The Frenchman opened the scoring with a penalty before sealing the victory in stoppage time.
Mbappé converted his penalty in the 14th minute after a foul on Álvaro Carreras. Three minutes later, Carreras doubled the lead, before Jude Bellingham made it 3-0 in the 35th minute.
Rayo pulled one back through Sergio Camello in the 51st minute and posed more of a threat after the break. However, Real maintained their advantage, with Mbappé scoring his second in the 90th+1 minute from a pass by Arda Güler.
This brace brings the French forward’s tally to seven goals in six matches since the start of the season. The win against Rayo also marks Real Madrid’s fourth consecutive victory at the Bernabéu.
After five matchdays in La Liga, Real Madrid sits on 12 points, with four wins and one loss.
